Competitions

The SADBA Competition Rules are published in the annual SADBA Handbook.   Unless specifically covered in the SADBA rules, Bowls England Rules and guidelines shall prevail.

The Draw for each Competition, the Closing Dates of Rounds and a Contacts List are accessible directly from the drop-down menu under the Competitions tab.

The Association runs a number of Competitions each year with the format and details of each shown as follows:

Singles

The “Harry Stanford” Singles is open to all bowlers of Member Clubs.  4 woods, played to 21 shots.

Officers Singles

The “Steve Howe” Officers Singles entry is limited to Officer’s of the Association, the winner of the previous season’s competition and Officers of Affiliated Clubs.  Entrants must be Officers in post at the time competition entries are submitted. 4 woods, played to 21 shots.

Champion of Champions

The “Stan Winters” Champion of Champions is a singles competition open to the Champion bowler from each Member Club.  It is also open to the winner of the previous season’s SADBA Champion of Champions competition.  4 woods, played to 21 shots.

Pairs

The “Herts Advertiser” Pairs is open to (any number of) teams of two from Member Clubs.  Players in each team must be from the same Club.  4 woods per bowlers, played to 18 ends.

Triples

The “Herbert Cross” Triples is open to (any number of) teams of three from Member Clubs.  Players in each team must be from the same Club.  Play is with 3 woods per bowler and is played to 15 ends

2-Wood Triples

The “Vasen” 2-wood Triples is open to (any number of) teams of three from Member Clubs.  Players in each team must be from the same Club.  Play is with 2 woods per bowler and is played to 21 ends.

Fours

The “Gorhambury” Fours is open to (any number of) teams of four from Member Clubs.  Players in each team must be from the same Club.  Play is with 2 woods per bowler and is played to 18 ends.

Mixed Fours

The “Stockman-Winser” Mixed Fours is open to (any number of) teams of four from Member Clubs.  Players in each team must be from the same Club.  Each team will consist of 2 men and 2 ladies.  This competition is run by SADBA on behalf of both SADBA and the St Albans and District Ladies Bowling Association (SADLBA).  Entries can come from members of Clubs affiliated to either Association.   Play is with 2 woods per bowler and is played to 18 ends.
