Leagues

 

The SADBA Competition and League Rules are published in the annual SADBA Handbook.   Unless specifically covered in the SADBA rules, Bowls England Rules and guidelines shall prevail.

The Draw and latest results of the Jones Cup, Bob Vise Trophy, Triples League and Club Rink League are accessible from the drop-down menu under the Leagues tab.

Leagues

Distinct from the Competition that SADBA organises are the Leagues where clubs will play a series of matches towards winning a trophy, the leagues currently organised are:

Jones Cup

The Jones Cup is an inter-club knock-out competition played on a one rink home and one away basis, played at the same time, same day.  Play is on fixed dates.  Each game is to 18 ends.  The Final of the Jones Cup is played on the Friday evening preceding SADBA Finals Day.

Bob Vise Trophy

The Bob Vise is a knock-out competition between member Clubs.  Each game consists of 4 rinks for play and are used for singles, pairs, triples and fours matches.  The matches are played on prescribed dates (or earlier in the same week by mutual agreement).  The Final is normally played on August Bank Holiday Monday.

Triples League

The Triples League is an inter-club league played on prescribed Fridays (or earlier in the week by mutual agreement).   It consists of two three-wood triples of 15 ends played one home and one away at the same time.  The final is played on SADBA Finals Day.

Club Rink League

The Club Rink League matches  consists of 3 rinks (4 players each rink, 2 woods per player, 18 ends) for participating member Clubs.      It is played on dates agreed by all playing opponents before the end of the preceding calendar year.  The  League records are maintained by the League Secretary with the trophy for the winning team awarded at the SADBA Finals day.
